Arcade Classics

Don Doko Don

January 30, 2021

For Arcade Classics, we highlight titles that exemplify the type of “just one more quarter” gameplay found in the classic arcades of a bygone era. These Arcade Classics have found a new home on the Legends Arcade Family of products, where their timeless, approachable gameplay can be enjoyed by new generations of players.

This week’s Arcade Classics highlights two great TAITO arcade games, Don Doko Don.

Don Doko Don, which first hit arcades in 1989, is a platform game that features two dwarves, Bob and Jim, whose objective is to clear the screen of all enemies. The two dwarves use their mallets to stun the enemies, who can then be picked up and thrown. Bonus items also appear that will have varying effects on the dwarves. There are 10 levels in each of the five areas, which feature boss battles at the end.
